Hatch accepts written submissions once a year from June-September. Any written work submitted outside of this window of opportunity is not read.
The anthology is edited by WSU’s undergraduate writers’ group and a committee of student editors. The committee is formed through an expression of interest. Call-outs will be made late August, early September.
Hatch is an anthology that promotes undergraduate writing at WSU. It grew out of the undergraduate writers’ group project with the support of the Writing and Society Research Centre. The group met regularly in Spring 2021 for the first time and formed an alliance under auspicious conditions to produce original fiction for an inaugural volume, Hatch: An Anthology. We encourage you to read their phenomenal stories and gain a sense for the kind of polished work Hatch is after.
The anthology considers all forms of writing. Send completed or excerpted works of fiction, poetry, essay, script, or memoir. Prose and drama pieces must not exceed 3,000 words. Poetry submissions must be included in one document and not exceed three pages.
Send your submissions to submissions@hatchanthology.com. We accept one creative piece only per student. Submissions will not be considered unless they are sent through your Western Sydney email account.
Students will be notified of their work’s acceptance some time in late October.
